 This will be the page where I will post
some of the more interesting Norns for download that are a result
of extended Qi (pronounced "chee") Runs. A Qi Run... "what's
that?" you ask.
A Qi Run is an event where the user chooses to hatch a given
number, say eight, of male and female Norns, teaches the initial
eight the Norn vocabulary, how to eat, etc. and then allows the
simulation to run for an extended period of time. I've let DS
run for weeks at a time, 24/7, with no crashes but only minor
autokills of some agents that were easily reinjected. The
whole point is to try to allow evolution to take its course and
breed some very hardy Norns who are good eaters, resistant to
disease, etc. Sometimes some very interesting results
occur.
The key to a Qi Run is balance... the balance between letting
the simulation run for a while without interference and at times,
helping the Norns along by interacting. For example, one can
choose to plant extra food or provide food vendors in areas where
there is little or add other agents that may be of use. If a
Norn has a bacteria infection that looks to be fatal, healing may
be offered or in the case of a starving Norn, he/she may be
encouraged to eat and then rewarded with a tickle to reinforce the
behavior. Norns with undesirable mutations may be
exported.

TigerPup Norns

The TigerPup Norns were the result of an over one hundred hour
Qi Run started with ChiChi's, Bondi's, Hardman Norns, Bengal Norns
and I think a Civet might have sneaked in. At the end of the
run, generation 43 was reached but the current egg agent is
generation 19. The TigerPup's appearance is a unique combo of
Bengal and Hardman, they never advance beyond the youth stage and
live around 9 hours pretty well on their own.
TreeChi Norns

The TreeChi Norns are a unique combination of Treehugger Norns
and ChiChi Norns. They are 9th generation that were a result
of a Qi Run approximately 20 hours in length. The world was
initially started with 8 Norns, 1 male and 1 female of the Hardman,
ChiChi, Bruin and Bondi breeds. After 12 hours, 1 female and
1 male Treehugger Norn were added.
Mandi Norns

The Mandi Norns were a result of a 48 hour Qi Run that started
with 3 Bondi Norns (2 males and 1 female) and 3 Treehugger Norns (2
females and 1 male). Four hours into the run, 2 female
Treehugger Norns were added and after 8 hours, 2 Hardman (1 male
and 1 female) Norns were added. The Mandi's are 8th
generation Norns with a physical appearance that is a combination
of Hardman and Bondi breeds.
Bonsai Norns

The Bonsai Norns were a result of a 48 hour Qi Run that started
with 3 Bondi Norns (2 males and 1 female) and 3 Treehugger Norns (2
females and 1 male). Four hours into the run, 2 female
Treehugger Norns were added and after 8 hours, 2 Hardman (1 male
and 1 female) Norns were added. The Bonsai's are 7th
generation Norns with a physical appearance that is a combination
of Bondi and Treehugger breeds.
